Elizabeth "Susie" M. (Sterling) Myers, 73, died Friday, April 5, 2013, in Hagerstown, Md., under the compassionate care of Hospice of Washington County and her beloved daughter and family.
Born May 4, 1939, on Coffman Avenue in Halfway, Md., she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Lee Sterling Sr. of Williamsport, Md., and Carrie Elizabeth (Smith) Sterling of Funkstown, Md.
She was a 1957 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.
She was a Baptist.
Susie is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lisa S. Myers and Max A. Cacas of Arlington, Va.; sisters, Carolyn (Bill) Suman of Williamsport, Sheryl (Richard) Ebersole and Christine (Amos) Banzhoff of Hagerstown; sister-in-law, Barbara R. Sterling of New Bern, N.C.; and brothers, John (Sharon) Sterling and Ralph (Brenda) Sterling, both of Williamsport. She is also survived by many special and beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Myers, on Feb. 24. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Lee Myers; her brother, Wilbur Lee Sterling Jr.; and her parents.
Susie was known for her compassion, warmth and caring for others. She was also renowned for her quick wit and magical cooking and baking.
She donated her body to the Maryland Anatomy Board.
She requested that people do an act of kindness in her memory.
A celebration of the lives of Susie and Bob will be Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Paramount Baptist Church, 13234 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Washington County (www.hospiceofwc.org) or Dachshund Rescue of North America (www.DNRA.org).
