Evelyn May (Strayer) Trimmer, 92, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Rest Haven - York. She was the wife of the late Harry Elgin Trimmer. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Mount Rose Cemetery with her pastor, the Rev. Douglas M. Miller, of West York Church of the Brethren, officiating. Evelyn May (Strayer) Trimmer, 92, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Rest Haven - York. She was the wife of the late Harry Elgin Trimmer. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Mount Rose Cemetery with her pastor, the Rev. Douglas M. Miller, of West York Church of the Brethren, officiating. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of the arrangements. A funeral cortege will form at the entrance of the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Trimmer was born May 19, 1913, in York, a daughter to the late Kurvin A. and Emma S. (Hamme) Strayer. She was a Charter Member of West York Church of the Brethren, having served 11 years as the secretary on the church board and as secretary of the Sunday school. Mrs. Trimmer was also a Life Member of the Pennsylvania Parent Teachers Association, served on the York City Parent Teachers Association, and was president of the Lincoln Elementary Parent Teachers Association. She liked to play the organ and enjoyed knitting and sewing. Mrs. Trimmer is survived by a son, Jack D. and wife, Linda M. Trimmer of York; a daughter, Yvonne M. and husband, Harry C. Hagen of Lancaster; five grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Schaeffer; two brothers, Harold H. and Kurvin A. Strayer, Jr.; and a grandson, Donald R. Trimmer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West York Church of the Brethren, 5101 Darlington Road, York, PA 17404.
