The 1880 Federal Census for Leacock Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, District 142, dated June 24, 1880, page 440A records Nicholas Becher (75) living with his cousin, Daniel Becher (57), and family: Susanna (54 - PA) [Daniel's wife], Sarah Ann (29), Ida R. (15), Daniel (20), and Annie (19). Also in the household is Daniel's grand son, Jacob W. Ressler (6). Daniel is listed as a Cigar Maker while Nicholas a Laborer. Interesting to note that Daniel and Annie are listed as son and daughter but the "married" column is checked for both.
The 1870 Federal Census for Leacock Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Gap P. O., dated Oct 8, 1870, page 435B records Nicholas Beacher (sic) (66- PA) living with his brother, Jacob Beacher (sic) (68 - PA) and Elizabeth Beacher (sic) (50 - PA). Nicholas is listed as a Laborer while Elizabeth and Jacob are listed as Keeping House and At Home. Nicholas' real estate is valued at $4,000 and his personal estate valued at $600.
