The 1910 Federal Census for Holy Neck, Nansemond Co., Virginia, District 11, page 138A, dated May 11, 1910 records Wilbur J. Vaughan (34 - VA/VA/VA) with his wife Florine (23 - VA/VA/VA) and daughter Doris B. Vaughan (8/12). Wilbur is a farmer and has been married to Florine for 3 years.

The 1920 Federal Census for Portsmouth Jackson Ward, Portsmouth (Independent City), Virginia, District 168, page 202B, dated January 8, 1920 records Wilbur J. (44 - VA/NC/VA) and Emma (32 - VA/VA/VA) Vaughan with children Doris B. (10), Gordon L. (9), Woodrow W. (7), and William J. (1 5/12) living at 217 Queen Street. Wilbur is a Ticket Agent for the U. S. Housing Corporation.

The 1930 Federal Census for Portsmouth Marshall Ward, Portsmouth (Independent City), Virginia, District 22, page 40A, dated April 11, 1930 records Wilbur J. (54 - NC/NC/VA) and Florine (43 - VA/VA/VA) Vaughan with children Gordon L. (20), Wilson W. (18), William (11), Paul (9), and Leland (2) living at 1721 Leckie Street. Wilbur is an Agent for a Steam Boat while Gordon is a Cashier for a Steam Boat and Wilson is an Apprentice Pressman. Wilbur and Florine have been married for 23 years.


The WWII Draft Registration Card (for men born on or after April 28, 1877 and on or before February 16, 1897) for Wilbur Judson Vaughan dated April 27, 1942 lists his date of birth as May 4, 1876 in Nansemond Co., VA. He is living with his son William Vaughan at 315 Dinwiddie Street in Portsmouth, VA. He is unemployed with a pension and his physical description is 6' 2", 165 lbs with brown eyes, gray hair and light complexion. He signs his name "W. J. Vaughan".
