The 1930 Federal Census for Pigg River, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia, District 21, page 192A/B, dated April 30, 1930 records Dempsey Moore (3) living with his parents James (40 - VA/VA/VA) and Susie (30 - VA/VA/VA) Moore and siblings Clarie (18), Blanchie (16), Johnie (14), Robert (12), Rallie (6), and Clyde (1 3/12). James is a farmer and has been married to Susie for 16 years ... ie Susie was marrie at age 14.

Dempsey married someone Selena Ellen Kendrick, daughter of Gary Mallone Kendrick and Carrie Lou Adkins. (Selena Ellen Kendrick was born on 12 Apr 1942 and died on 11 May 1998 in Durham Co., N.C..)
