The funeral for Louise Kendrick Turner, 95, of 5934 Virginia Ave., Bassett, who died July 5, 2006, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Norris Funeral Services with Minister Lee Ashley officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the funeral today, and other times at the home of her son, Jensie Turner, 1912 Dundee Lane, Martinsville.
She was born in Pittsylvania County on Feb. 23, 1911 to Olive Green "Dump" Kendrick and Lou Emma Amos Kendrick. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ezra Shackleford Turner; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Davidson, Cora G. Rigney and Nella Kendrick; and six brothers, Arthur Washington Kendrick, Paul A. Kendrick, George K. Kendrick, Henry Ganaway Kendrick, Raleigh James Kendrick and Otis Kendrick.
She was a member of Fort Trial Christian Church at Bassett.
Surviving are two sons, Bobby Ray Turner of Bassett and Jensie Turner of Martinsville; sister, Elise Kendrick Oakes of Chatham; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Louise married Ezra Shackleford Turner. (Ezra Shackleford Turner was born on 23 May 1917 and died in Aug 1975.)
