FRANKLIN - Annie Mae Turner Daughtrey, 80, died July 25, 2007. Born in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Arthur William and Minnie Rountree Turner. Mrs. Daughtrey, a retired clerk/ stenographer for the Virginia Department of Highways, was a former member of the Business and Professional Woman's Club, and a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, Mills P. "Pete" Daughtrey; her daughter, Robin D. Collins and husband Kevin of Berryville, Va.; her son, Mills Parker Daughtrey Jr. of Buckhorn, Va.; and a granddaughter, Ashley Daughtrey. Mrs. Daughtrey was predeceased by a sister, Hazel Harrison.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, at Wright Funeral Home with the Revs. James H. Hyatt Jr. and Lafayette Wilkins officiating.
Interment will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to Franklin Congregational Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.

The 1930 Federal Census for Franklin, Southampton, Virginia, District 14, page 153A, dated April 5, 1930 records Annie M. Turner (3 - VA) with her parents A. W. (37 - VA/VA/VA) and Minnie G. (36 - VA/VA/VA) Turner and sister Hazel R. (11 - VA) living at 504 Norfleet Street. A. W. is a Driver of a Milk Truck. Both A. W. and Minnie have been married since the age of 21 years. Also in the household is Minnie's brother A. L. Roundtree (26) with his wife Maggie (20) and children Mary L. (4) and Earl K. (1 11/12). A. L. is a general worker at a Meat Store and has been married 5 years.
[Note: The WWI Draft Registration for Ashby Lee Rountree indicates he lives in Franklin, VA, his father as J. R. Roundtree, and his date of birth as April 14, 1897. The 1910 and 1920 census records report his father as John R. Roundtree.]

Annie married Mills Parker Daughtrey Jr., son of Edwin Parker Daughtrey Sr. and Sadie May Holland, circa 1953. (Mills Parker Daughtrey Jr. was born on 12 Jul 1925 in Nansemond Co., VA, died on 11 Aug 2009 in Franklin (Southampton Co.), VA and was buried in Poplar Springs Cemetery, Franklin, Virginia.)
