William H. Nein
William H. Nein, 62, retired Readong Airport employe, died in his residence at 432 Chestnut St. after a lengthy illness.
Nein, retired from his airport assignment after being injured there several years ago, and whose wife, Irene (Wright) Nein, preceded him in death, was a member of the Evangical and Reformed denomination.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Samuel and Magdalene (Schlegel) Nein.
He is survived by a daughter, Catherine, wife of Earl Ache, Reading; four grand children; three great grand children; a sister, Lillie, Reading, and two brothers: Samuel and Irvin, both of Reading.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Lamprose Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The WWII Draft Registtraion Card for William Howard Nein records his date of birth as November 30, 1890 in Berks Co., PA. He is living with his sister, Ida Adams, at 2213 Perkiomen Avenue in Reading, PA. He is unemployed and his physical description is 6' 1" tall, 245 pounds, brown eyes, balding gray hair and a ruddy complextion. Note: The 1930 census records Ida N. Adams (53) with her husband Edward S. Adams (56) and children living at 2213 Perkiomen Avenue. Marriage records for Berks County indicate Ida N. Nein married Edward S. Adams in 1899 [Vol 22, page 237].

The 1930 Federal Census for Mount Penn Borough, Berks Co., Pennsylvania, District 119, page 197A, dated April 18, 1930 records William H. Nein (40 - PA/PA/PA) living with his widowed father Samuel R. Nein (79 - PA/PA/PA) at 2558 Perkiomen Avenue. Samuel has no employment while William is a laborer at odd jobs and indicates that he is single.

The 1920 Federal Census for Mount Penn Borough, Berks Co., Pennsylvania, District 35, page 176B, dated April 30, 1920 records William N. Nein (30 - PA/PA/PA) living with his parents Samuel (70 - PA/PA/PA) and Maggie (70 - PA/PA/PA) Nein on Perkiomen Avenue. William indicates that he is married. Also in the household is grand daughter Catherine Nein (8) who is apparently William's daughter. Samuel is a laborer working at Mt. Borough while William is a general laborer.

The WWI Draft Registration Card for William Howard Nein dated June 5, 1917 records his date of birth as November 30, 1890 in Mount Penn [Berks Co.], PA. He is living on Perkiomen Avenue in Mt. Penn and works at the Cresent Brass Works. He indicates that he is married and his physical description is short in height, medium build, with brown eyes and dark hair.

The 1910 Federal Census for Mount Penn Borough, Berks Co., Pennsylvania, District 30, page 273B, dated April 30, 1910 records William N. Nein (19 - PA/PA/PA) living with his parents Samuel R. (59 - PA/PA/PA) and Maggie (59 - PA/PA/PA) Nein and his sister, Helen N. Nein (15 - PA/PA/PA) on Perkiomen Avenue. Samuel is a laborer working on Roads while William and Helen work at a Hat Store.

The 1900 Federal Census for Lower Alsace Township, Berks Co., Pennsylvania, District 2, page 17A, dated June 4, 1910 records Willie N. Nein (Nov 1891 - PA/PA/PA) living with his parents Samuel S. (June 1850 - PA/PA/PA) and Magdelena (1850 - PA/PA/PA) Nein and his siblings Samuel N. Nein (May 1875), Lillie N. Nein (May 1880), Irvin N. Nein (Nov 1889), and Helen N. Nein (Nov 1894 - PA/PA/PA). Samuel is a day laborer and has been married to Maggie for 27 years. They have had 6 children all of whom are still living.

The 1880 Federal Census for Reading, Berks Co., Pennsylvania, District 39, page 24A, dated June 5, 1880 records Samuel Nein Sr. (29) and his wife Magdelena (27) with children Samuel Jr. (5), Ida (2), and Sallie (1/12 - May) living on South Pearl Street. Samuel works in a Pipe Mill.

Several March 2010 emails from Carol O'Hearn Rice gives details of the decendent of Irene Victoria Wright. In one such such email she writes:
Bo,
This is what I found online taken from the Nein family history Seventh Generation. " Irene V. Wright was married to William H. Nein 4 Jan 1911 in Reading Pa. Irene V. Wright was born about 1894 in Reading , Pa. Daughter of Edward B. and Catherine G. Wright. Per family legend , Irene walked out the back door of her parents home , never again to be seen. She was declared legally dead 13 Aug 1921 . William H. Nein and Irene V. Wright had the following children : Catherine G. Nein was born on 26 Mar 1911 in Exeter Township, Berks Co., Pa. She died on Nov 1997 in Reading. William H. Nein was born 9 Aug 1893 in Exeter Township, Berks County, Pa. He died on 5 Oct. 1955. He was buried in Schwarzwald Reformed Church, Exeter Township , Pa. Private with 528 th Motor Transport Corps , WW1 . May have a son Robert.

William married Irene Victoria Wright, daughter of Edward Brunner Wright Sr. and Katherine (Kate) (Katie) G. Hagen, on 4 Jan 1911 in Reading, Berks Co., PA. (Irene Victoria Wright was born in Sep 1892 in Reading, Berks Co., PA and died on 7 Apr 1958 in Scranton, Lackawanna Co., Pennsylvania.) The cause of her death was Pulmonary Infarction.

Irene V. Wright and William N. Nein made an application to be married on 01/04/1911 Vol 35, page 362. They were married on the same date. William reports his age as 20 while Irene reports her age as 16. [The 16 years old is a bit suspect since census records indicate she is older.]
William's parents are listed as Sanil [Samuel?]and Mary [Magdalena?]Nein of Mt. Penn, PA while Irene's parents are listed as Edward B. and Katherine G. Wright of 1115 Muhlenberg St in Reading. William is employed as a Hatter.
