The 1900 Federal Census for Precinct 17 - Enterprise, Coffee Co., Alabama, District 54, page 211A,dated June 18, 1900 records Japheth Rawls (Aug 1837) with his wife of 29 years, Elizabeth Rawls (Sept 1850 - GA/NC/GA). They have no children. Also in the household are nephew Jesse P. Rawls (June 1868 - VA/VA/VA) with his wife Margaret E. Rawls (Dec 1878 - GA/VA/GA) and their daughter Elizabeth Rawls (June 1898 - AL/VA/GA). In addition the household has the following: neice Martha Jones (Feb 1882 - GA/VA/GA), neice Virdie Lee (Oct 1883 - GA/VA/GA), nephew Baker Lee (Nov 1885 - GA/VA/GA), neice Eva Lee (March 1888 - GA/VA/GA), nephew Fitzhugh Lee (March 1890 - GA/VA/GA), nephew Gilbert Baker (Aug 1887 - GA/VA/GA), neice Virginia Baker (June 1889 - GA/VA/GA), and neice Floried Baker (July 1894 - GA/VA/GA).



Japheth Rawls was born Aug 16, 1837 and died Feb 2, 1925; he served in a Georgia Regiment during the Civil War; following that, moved to Coffee County, Alabama where he received a pension from the State of Alabama for his service as a Pvt, Co D, 4th GA Cavalry Regiment. He also served in Clinch's Battery, Georgia Light Artillery.
