REIDSVILLE - Ethel Page Massey, 92, of 7221 Cherry Grove Rd., Reidsville, N.C. died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003 at Alamance Health Care Center, Burlington.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of Caswell County, she was a daughter of the late James Franklin and Judy Simmons Page and had lived in Caswell County her entire life. She was a homemaker and farmer and attended Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Massey; a daughter, Lois M. Rainey; a brother, Preston Page, and three sisters, Pearl Reagan, Ellen Smith and Della Wilkinson.
She enjoyed quilting, vegetable gardening (and sharing all bounty with others), flower gardening, and baking. She enjoyed working with and teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She especially enjoyed holiday get togethers at her house with the extended family, sharing old stories, and Easter egg hunts. She loved giving goody bags to the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was a country woman, who maintained a strict work ethic, and taught by example. She was a wonderful, loving person who thrived on hard work. The family thanks you for all the love you've given us through the years.
Surviving are four sons, Felton Massey and wife Edna of Burlington, N.C., Wayne Massey and wife Nancy of Burlington, N.C., J.R. Massey and wife Sylvia of Burlington, N.C. and Wallace Massey and wife Ilene of Reidsville, N.C.; daughter, Verly M. Coleman and husband Haywood of Reidsville, N.C.; son-in-law, Elward Rainey of Burlington, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
The family will see friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Citty Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home of her son, Wallace Massey, 7175 Cherry Grove Rd., Reidsville, N.C.
