Age 69, of 1331 Bolling Avenue, retired merchandise buyer for the W.G. Swartz Company and veteran of 39 years' service with that firm, died Wednesday, February 11, 1953 at 4:15 pm in a Norfolk hospital after an illness of three months. He retired last year. A native of City Point, he had lived here 39 years. His late parents were PETER and Mrs. ADDIE BRYANT EPPES.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. GERTRUDE K. EPPES; 2 sons, ROBERT BLAND EPPES JR of Richmond and JAMES GRANT EPPES of Norfolk; 4 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. J.A. WILKINSON and Mrs.A.B.STEWARD, both of Richmond and Miss VIRGINIA EPPES of Clifton Forge; 1 brother, JAMES ROY EPPES of Cleveland, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon, February 13, 1953 at the Cox Funeral Home by the Rev NORMAN T. SLATER, rector of the Church of the Good Sheperd and the Rt. Rev. GEORGE P. GUNN, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
