Evelyn Powell DAUGHTREY, 91, died December 13, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Myrtie E. and John A. Daughtrey. She was a native of Suffolk and retired as a Medical Claims Examiner for the Life of Virginia in Richmond after 29 years of service. Miss Daughtrey was educated in the Suffolk Schools and Averett College in Danville, Va. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Suffolk, the Constantia Chapter of the D.A.R., the Suffolk-Nansemond Historical Society and the Jamestown Society. Prior to moving back to Suffolk she lived in Mechanicsville, Va. for 20 years. She is survived by cousins. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Don Solomon in the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk. A private burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
