The 1900 Federal Census for Holy Neck, Nansemond Co., VA, District 28, page 163A, dated June 21, 1900 records Rosa E. Rawls [actually Norfleet] (Jan 1880 - VA) living with her parents Hugh K. (Feb 1849 - VA/VA/VA) and Sarah C. (March 1856 - VA/VA/VA) Rawls and brother William J. Rawls [actually Norfleet] (Dec 1884 - VA). Hugh and Sarah indicate they have been married for 8 years and Sarah has had 6 children all of whom are still living. Also in the household is servant Mary E. Langston (Jan 1883). The 8 years of marriage is due to the fact that this is the 2nd marriage for Sarah ... see 1910 census facts below.

The 1910 Federal Census for Holy Neck, Nansemond Co., VA, District 28, page 177A, dated May 5, 1910 records Hugh Kelley (62 - VA/VA/VA) and Sarah C. (58 - VA/VA/VA) Rawles. Also in the household is stepson John W. Norfleet (24 - VA) [see 1900 census above where he is listed as William J. Rawls] with his wife Ruth B. Norfleet (23 - VA) and their son, John W. Norfleet Jr. (2 - VA). Hugh and Sarah have been married for 17 years, first marriage for Hugh and second for Sarah. Sarah has had 6 children all of whom are still living.
