P. Cooper, a wealthy inmate of the Bloomingdale Asylum at White Plains committed suicide on Wednesday by hanging herself.
From the Oswego Daily News, Thursday Evening, November 11, 1909 SUICIDE IN ASYLUM Wealthy Woman Patient in Bloomingdale Hangs Herself White Plains, NY. Nov 11 - Mrs. Susan C. P. Cooper, a wealthy patient in Bloomingdale Asylum, committed suicide by hanging herself. While her nurse was away Mrs. Cooper went to the bathroom, tied two towels together and hanged herself from an electric light bracket. Mrs. Cooper, whose home was in Orange, New Jersey, was a widow about 50 years old. Proceedings were pending in the Supreme Court to declare her incompetent. Her only relative is a sister living in Orange.
