Lorenzo and Grace have been married for 15 years and Grace has had 5 children all of whom are still living. This is the 2nd marriage for both. The family is living on Academy Street

The 1900 Federal Census for Cave Spring, Roanoke Co., VA, District 73, page 138B records Lewis (sic) (Aug 1843 - VA) and Grace G. (July 1853 - VA) Light with daughter California Gold Light (Oct 1895 - VA). Lorenzo and Grace have been married for 5 years and Grace has had 1 child [not including the others by her former husband].

The 1890 Soldier, Sailor, and Marine Vererans and Widows Schedule records Lorenzo M. Light living in the Cave Spring District of Roanoke Co., VA. He served as a private in Company G of the 13th West Virginia Infantry from Dec 1, 1863 to May 25, 1865.

The 1880 Federal Census for Elk District, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, District 51, page 257A records Lorenzo M. (35 - VA/VA/VA) and Emily F. (35 - VA/VA/VA) Light with children Magdalene (11 - WV), Joseph H. (9 - WV), Eliza C. (7 - WV), David F. (6), and William A. (3 - WV). Lorenzo is a farmer.

The 1870 Federal Census for Charleston Township, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, page 81A records Lorenzo (27 - VA) and Emily (25 - "VA now WVA") Light with daughter Maggie L. (2 - WV). ALso in the household is Eugenia Light (15 - Missouri) who is most probably Lorenzo's sister.

There is a Lorenzo M. Light who served in the Union Army for West Virginia.
Service Record: Enlisted as a Private in Company G, 13th Infantry Regiment West Virginia.
There is a Civil War Pension record for Lorenzo M. Light who served in Company G., of the 13th West Virginia Infantry. He applied for an invalid pension and his wife, Grave G. Light, applied for a widow's pension in 1915.

The 1860 Federal Census for Osceola, St. Clair Co., Missouri, page 887 records Lorenzo M. Light (14 - VA) living with his mother Magdalene Light (43 - VA) and siblings N. A. Light (12 - TN), J. A. Light (8 - TN), and L. Light (5 - Missouri). Magdalene is listed as a farmer worth real estate valued at $500 and a personal estate at $150.

The 1850 Federal Census for Sumner Co., Tennessee, District 6, page records Lorenzo Light (6 - VA) living with his parents Henry (32 - VA) and Magdaline (43 - VA) Light and siblings Sophia (8), Nancy (3), and Martha (2). Henry works as an "S. Maker".

Death dates and burial records were found at the Virginia Room at the Roanoke City Library during a research visit for Joey Kent on December 19, 2007 using the Fairview Cemetery index. A headstone is listed for L. M. Light but has no dates. He is buried in Lot 3, Section 4, Division 4.
