The 1925 Iowa State Census reocrds Gertrude Pauls, age 50, married to Herman A. Pauls, age 56. Gertrude's parents are both Irish: Phillip Shannon and Mary McGuire who are from Northern Ireland (as indicated by the 1930 census).

Gertrude married Herman A. Pauls, son of Carl Pauls and Sophia Longhauff. (Herman A. Pauls was born circa 1868 in Wisconsin and died after 1930 in Washington Co., Iowa.)
