The 1880 Federal Census for Howland, Trumbull Co., Ohio, District 195, page 150A records Catherine [Josephine] De Forest (16-Ohio) living with her parents T. R. (55-Ohio) and Nancy (51-Ohio) De Forest. Siblings include Blanch (18-Ohio) and William (14-Ohio) De Forest.

The 1900 Federal Census for Howland, Trumbull Co., Ohio, District 107, page 146A records Nancy DeForest (Oct 1828-widow) as the head of household. Also in the home is daughter Anna A. Cummings (Nov. 1861-widow) and her children Doniphan E. (June 1889), Tresa C. (April 1891), and Letcher E. (Oct 1893). Nancy is listed as having 3 children of which 3 are still living while Anna has had 3 children. It is of interest that all of Anna's children were born in Virginia.
