The 1940 Federal Census for St. Petersburg, Pinellas Co., Florida, District 52-10, page 184A, dated April 22, 1940 records Thomas T. Mayo Jr (8 - Hawaii) living with his parents Thomas T. (41 - GA) and Mary (44 - Canada) Mayo. The family was living in Dekalob, GA on April 1, 1935.

Obituary published in the St. Petersburg Times on March 8, 2011:
MAYO, Thomas T. Jr. 79, went home to the Lord on Saturday, March 5, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Jo; his daughter, Melinda Hopfauer; son, Thomas M. Mayo; grandchildren, Stephen, Ben, A.J., Laura and Adam Dagen, Noah Hopfauer and Meaghan Mayo. He is pre-deceased by his daughter, Mary Lee Dagen. Mr. Mayo was a resident of St. Petersburg since 1940. He was a member of Indian Rocks Baptist Church and a graduate of St. Paul's School and the University of Florida. He was a USAF pilot and respected architect. Visitation will be held at Indian Rocks Baptist Church at 1 pm on Wednesday, March 9th, with a memorial service at 2 pm. Mr. Mayo will be buried at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA Tampa Bay or the VA Hospice. www.rlwilliams.com R.
