Obituary for Faye Pitzer, 73, Dies in [Marion] Virginia:
Born July 10, 1889 in Princeton, WV to the late Mr. and Mrs. George Winfrey. Her husband Albert Pitzer preceeded her in death. Survivors include two 1/2 sisters, Mrs. Flossie Wimmer and Mrs. Pearl Clyburn, and a 1/2 brother, Willard Winfrey, all of Princeton.

William Charles Winfrey passed away December 14. He was born June 13, 1875 in Mercer Co., WV the son of Charles and Lena Winfrey. Survived by his widow Josie Underwood Winfrey (married on April 24, 1902 in Welch) and a brother, George Winfrey of Princeton.

The 1870 Federal Census for Beaver Pond, Mercer Co., West Virginia, Princeton P. O., page 498B, dated August 16, 1870 records George A. Winfrey (3 - WV) living with his parents Charles (25 - VA) and Julina (29 - VA) Winfrey and brother Charles M. (2 - WV). Charles is a farmer.

The 1880 Federal Census for Beaver Pond, Mercer Co., West Virginia, District 80, page 17A, dated June 29, 1880 records George Winfrey (13 - WV) living with his parents Charles (34 - VA/VA/VA) Julinar (40 - WV/VA/VA) Winfrey and siblings Charles (12 - WV), Mary (8 - WV), and William (5 - WV). Charles is a farmer. Note: Julinar is reported as born in WV; however, all her children have her birth location as VA.

The 1900 Federal Census for Hinton, Summers Co., West Virginia, District 101, page 61A, dated June 9, 1900 records George A. Winfrey (July 1866 - WV/WV/WV) with his wife Rebecca J. Winfrey (Dec 1861 - WV/WV/WV) and son Douglas R. (Feb 1898). George and Rebecca have been married 5 years and Rebecca reports having had 7 children all of whom are still living. So ... apparently this is the 2nd marriage for Rebecca ... however, the 1910 census indicates Rebecca has been married just once and has had bur 2 children by 1910 ... see below.

The 1910 Federal Census for Springfield, Monroe Co., West Virginia, District 101, page 228B, dated May 2, 1910 records George A. Winfrey (47 - WV/WV/WV) with his wife Rebecca J. Winfrey (Dec 1861) and children Douglas R. (11) and Flossie B. (7). George and Rebecca have been married for 15 years with this the 2nd marriage for George and 1st for Rebecca who has had 2 children both of whom are still living.

The 1920 Federal Census for Springfield, Monroe Co., West Virginia, District 184, page 17A, dated January 27, 1920 records George A. Winfrey (53 - WV/WV/WV) with his wife Sarah V. Winfrey (43 - WV/WV/WV) and children Gelarnie (4), Willard L. (3), and Georgia P. (1). Also in the household is step daughter Myrtle M. Dick (17).

The 1930 Federal Census for Beaver Pond, Mercer Co., West Virginia, District 13, page 254B, dated April 19, 1930 records George A. (63) and Sarah B. (52) Winfrey with children William L. (12) and Pearl (11). Next door is Charles M. Winfrey (62) with his wife May J. (49) and children King M. (27), Ollie M. (22),Margie O. (14), and Charles V. (13). These are farming families living along Green Valley Road.

The 1940 Federal Census for Beaver Pond, Mercer Co., West Virginia, District 28-24, page 375A, dated May 14, 1940 records the widower George A. Winfrey (74) with children Willard Lee (23) and Pearl (21).
