The 1900 Federal Census for Beaver Pond, Mercer Co., West Virginia, District 76, page 15A, dated June 15, 1900 records William Winfrey (July 1865 - WV/VA/VA) and his wife Sallie E. (April 1870 - WV/VA/VA) and children Ora E. (Oct 1890), Bertha V. (June 1892), Emma M. (March March 1895), and Mary S. (July 1897). Also in the household are William's brother James A. Winfrey (Jan 1883), his widowed mother Lydia Winfrey (March 1855 - VA/VA/VA), and his widowed mother-in-law, Orina Winfrey (Dec 1817 - VA/VA/VA). William and Sarah have been married 10 years and have had 4 children all of whom are still living. Lydia has had 6 children all of whom are still living, and Orina has had 16 chidren of whom 9 are still living. Nearby is Mifflin Winfrey (Oct 1846 - WV/VA/VA) and his family. Mifflin is William's uncle and Orina is his grand mother; and she is also Sallie's mother.
Note: Actually Orina is William's mother ... so Lydia must be William's mother-in-law, although Sallie's death certificate names her mother as Ester Carr.

William married Sarah Elizabeth Carbough circa 1890 in Mercer Co., West Virginia. (Sarah Elizabeth Carbough was born on 15 Apr 1870 in Mercer Co., West Virginia, died on 12 May 1954 in Mercer Co., West Virginia and was buried on 14 May 1954 in Monte Vista Cemetery, Mercer Co., WV.)
