Soloman is a farmer with real estate valued at $4,000.

The 1860 Federal Census for Highland Co., VA, Monterey P. O., page 183, dated June 4, 1860 records John B. Waggoner (30 - Highland, VA) with his wife Eleanor Waggoner (24 - Highland, VA) living next door to his parents Soloman (54 - Highland, VA) and Eleanor (52 - Highland, VA) Waggoner and their son Isaac Waggoner (29 - Highland, VA). Soloman is a farmer with real estate valued at $21,000 and a personal estate valued at $3,094 which includes 2 slaves. Sol has a 25 year old black female slave and a 6 year old mulato female slave, most likey a child with a white owner. Soloman is a farmer and has come through the war financially sound with real estate valued at $12,000 and a personal estate valued at $4,000. Nearby in this same 1870 census record - Monterey Township, Highland Co., VA, Monterey P. O., page 186A is Soloman's widowed son, John B. Waggoner (40 - VA) with his children Albert (10), Thomas (8), John W. (5), and Viola B. (3). John is a farmer and has real estate with no value and a personal estate valued at $1,500.

Brief History of his Civil War unit:
The 62nd Regiment Mounted Infantry completed its organization in September, 1862. The unit was composed of infantry and cavalry until December when the cavalry companies united with other companies to form the 18th Regiment Virginia Partisan Rangers, and at times the 62nd Partisan Rangers, the 62nd Infantry, and Imboden's Partisan Rangers. The command was mounted during the latter part of 1863 and served in Imboden's Brigade. Disbanded in April, 1865. Its commanders were Colonels John D. Imboden and George H. Smith, Lieutenant Colonels Robert L. Doyle and David B. Lang, and Majors Houston Hall and George W. Imboden.
