Flithe (34 - NC/NC/NC) and their children Martha L. (8), James T. (4), Sarah O. (4), and Fleatwood D. [Doughtie] (3). Joseph is a farmer and indicates that he can not read nor write.
Roxanna appears to have around 1890 in that Joseph is a widower in 1900 and remarried by 1903:
The 1900 Federal Census for Mitchells Township, Hertford Co., NC, District 17, page 81B, dated June 14, 1900 records the widower Joseph A. Flythe (Dec 1845 - NC/NC/NC) with his children Lizzie (Jan 1872), James T. (May 1874), Sarah (Oct 1875), Lettie (Sept 1879), and Flossie (Oct 1889).
The 1910 Federal Census for Mitchells Township, Hertford Co., NC, District 5, page 80B, dated April 28, 1910 records Joseph A. Flythe (64 - NC/NC/NC) with his wife Henrietta (45). This is the 2nd marriage for Joseph and 1st for Henrietta. They have been married for 7 years.
