He was born near West Union on March 3, 1919. He was a retired farmer and former employee with Ohio Department of Transportation, Adams County Highway Department and the John Deere Company. He was a WWII Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Lottie M. Hayslip of Chardon; two step-sons, Richard Baldridge of Lakewood and Michael Baldridge of East Claridon; two step-daughters, Patty Pahula of Madison and Nana Hurley of East Lake and many nieces and nephews.
Verl married Wilma Ruby Dice, daughter of David William Dice and Myrtle Oakland Swallow. (Wilma Ruby Dice was born on 15 Jan 1923 in Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio, died on 14 Jan 1992 in Adams Co., Ohio and was buried in Baptist Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, Adams Co., Ohio.)
