Doris Lee Doughtie, 80, passed away Dec. 24, 2007. She was a native of Lumberton, N.C. and was the daughter of the late Percy and Mary Meares. She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Doughtie Jr.
Survivors include two sons, Jon S. Doughtie and wife Johnna of Suffolk and Norwood E. King Jr. and wife Linda of Gray, Ky.; two grandchildren, Erin Seymour and Norwood E. King III; and four great-grandchildren.
A chapel service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by Pastor Jay Anderson. Burial will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
Doris married John Fanning Doughtie Jr., son of John Fanning Doughtie Sr. and Theresa Vincenzia (Vincences) Martin. (John Fanning Doughtie Jr. was born on 30 Jan 1924 in Portsmouth City, Norfolk Co., VA, died on 28 Mar 2000 and was buried in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth City, Norfolk Co., VA.)
