When Martha Anna Rebecca Tucker was born on May 14, 1818, in Virginia, her mother, Elizabeth Bridgeforth, was 18. She married Col. James William Davis on September 9, 1835, in Warren County, North Carolina. They had 11 children in 22 years. She died on May 18, 1903, in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, having lived a long life of 85 years.

The 1880 Federal Census for Darvilles, Dinwiddie Co., Virginia, District 81, page 127A, dated June 1, 1880 records the widow Ann Davis (60 - VA/VA/VA) and her unmarried daughter Bettie Davis (21) living with Ann's daughter and her family: Thomas E. Branch (47) and Catherine J. [Davis] Branch (40) and their children Ada A. (13), Anna (11), and Edmund (11).

The 1900 Federal Census for Darvilles, Dinwiddie Co., Virginia, District 19, page 90B, dated June 21, 1900 records the widow Ann R. Davis (May 1818 - VA/VA/VA) and her widowed daughter Laurena E. Turner (May 1851) living with Ann's daughter and her family: Virgil A. Rives (March 1837) and Bettie P. [Davis] Rives (Oct 1858) and their children Wilson C. (July 1883), Annie E. (April 1885), Aubrey T. (July 1892), and John W. (May 1896). Virgil and Bettie have been married for 18 years and have had 4 children all of whom are still living.

Martha married James William Davis on 9 Sep 1835 in Warren County, North Carolina. (James William Davis was born on 17 May 1817 in Dinwiddie Co., Virginia, died on 25 Aug 1878 in Dinwiddie Co., Virginia and was buried in Dinwiddie Co., Virginia.)
