The 1920 Federal Census for Whaleyville, Nansemond Co., Virginia, District 14, page 219B, dated April 28, 1930 records John H. Langston (39) with his wife Nannie S. Langston (39) and their children Margret Langston (15), Jesse D. Langston (5), and William L. Haslett (18). Margaret is the daughter of John H. Langston his first wife who died.
