The following is an obituary for the brother of Richard C. Bourne:
John W. Bourne
Age 84, of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Delaware, passed away peacefully in Florida on Sunday, September 9, 2007.
Mr. Bourne was the owner and operator of Manor Hardware in New Castle from 1970 to 1983. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. In retirement he made toys for children in the Head Start Program. He was a member of the Boynton Beach Coast Guard Auxiliary and Past Commander. He taught boating safety classes. Formerly, he was a member of New Castle Lions Club and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Guadalcanal.
His son, John L. Bourne, predeceased him in April. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Berenice C. (Coyle) Bourne; 6 children, Marianne, Donna, Jane, Patricia, Michael and Susan; 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and his brother, Richard C. Bourne.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 17, at 11 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear Christiana Road, Bear, where friends may call after 10 am. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Hospice by the Bay, 1531 W. Park Road, Boca Raton, FL 33486.
