Cora Lawrence Vaughan, 79, of the 1200 block of Meadow Road, Colerain, died Jan. 8, 2007, in her home. She was a native of Tyrrell County, NC, a daughter of the late Edgar J. Lawrence and Sudie Roughton Umphlett; widow of Willie Godwin Vaughan. a homemaker, a member of Earlys Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Rose Davis and Jean Martin of Milwaukee, NC, Sue Coefield of Colerain, NC; four sons, Bill Vaughan, Monte Brickhouse & Allen Brickhouse, all of Ahoskie, NC, Glenn Brickhouse of Margarettsville, NC; one sister; Mae Cummings of Ahoskie; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, with the Rev. Al Hughson officiating. Family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home, 205 N.C. Hwy. W., Ahoskie.

Cora married Silas Gibbs Brickhouse on 6 Mar 1943 in Hertferd Co., N. C. (Silas Gibbs Brickhouse was born on 16 Sep 1921 in Tyrrell Co., North Carolina and died on 14 Sep 1954 in Morehead City, Carteret Co., N. C..) The cause of his death was Suffocation - Fell through a cavity in a sawdust hopper at 7:15 a.m. while at work - accident.
