Edward S. Olczak, 64, of Plum died Friday (Nov. 19, 2004) in his home, following a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 14, 1940, in New Kensington, he lived in Plum all of his life.
He was a mechanical design draftsman for Bombardier for 15 years, and previously worked at Westinghouse for 20 years.
Mr. Olczak was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Plum, and the National Riflemans' Association.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Judith Faix Olczak; four sons, Matthew (Amy) Olczak, Raymond Olczak, Mark (Audrey) Olczak and David Olczak, all of Plum; two daughters, Kathleen (Andrew) Sommerer of Penn Hills and Laura (Jeffrey) Marino of Plum; and four grandchildren.
Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Catherine Faix.
He was preceded in death by a son in infancy; his father, Stanley Olczak; his mother, Virginia Olszewski Olczak; and his stepmother, Sophia Olczak.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the MAURICE L. KNEE LTD. FUNERAL HOME, 7663 Saltsburg Road, Plum, where a blessing service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Private burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Forbes Hospice, in care of Western Pennsylvania Hospital Foundation, 4818 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
