Dr. John King - born about 1675, Nansemond County, Virginia, died after January 13, 1735, the date of his will written in Elizabeth City County, Virgina. The estate settlement was entered July 22, 1742. His estate papers contain a state of legacy left by, "Mr. Michael King, of Nansemond" to John's sons Charles and Armistead. John was a physician and several of his accounts are on file at the Court House at Edenton, North Carolina. He was also sheriff and justice of peace (1721-1722) and Captain of Militia (1742) in Elizabeth City County, Virginia, and Nansemond County, Virginia and in Chowan County, North Carolina, and Gates County, North Carolina. John married first in 1695 in Elizabeth City to Winifred Conner.
