The 1930 Federal Census for Danville, Va., District 10, page 219A records John T. Keeling (38) in the home of his widowed father, Charles H. Keeling (82) at 494 West Main Street. Also in the household are Charles' children Ethel (44), Helen (42), Mildred (40), Annie (36), Roger (34), and Louise (28), all of whom are single. One page over is the William Thomas Adkins' home where patriarch Greenberry is living. This is probably how Mabel Adkins (Greenberry's grand daughter) met John.
The marriage announcement for Mabel Morrison Adkins and John Fountaine Keeling was reported in The Bee, Danville, VA on December 5, 1932. The groom's parents are named as "the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Henry Keeling".
