Given names Catherine Rawls and Kate Rawls are listed in the 1870 and 1880 Federal Census records for Nansemond Co., VA as the wife of Randolph Rawls Perhaps the 1870 listing should be Christine in stead of Catherine in that she is listed as 49 years old in the 1870 census and Christine's tombstone lists her date of death as 1876 and birth as 1820. While the given name in the census record is not consistent (Catherine vs Christine), the age listed there is consistent with the headstone death date with a ca1820 birth date gleaned from the 1850 & 1860 census data.

Catherine married Randolph Eugene Rawls Sr., son of Andrew Rawls and Abigail Porter, about 1876 in Nansemond Co, VA.
