Martha Sarah Harrison Winborne 09-30-1856 10-30-1949 Age 92 d/o Talbot Hall & Frances Harrison. She was born in Isle of Wight County, Va. w/o Thomas Parker Winborne, Sr. Mother of twelve children.

The 1870 Federal Census for Windsor Township, Isle of Wight Co., VA records the "Harris" Family: Talbert Harris (43) with his wife Mary F. (40) and children Wm M. (16), Martha S. (14), Anganetta (12), Mills N. (10), Jas C. (8), Jno D. (6), Ryland (3), and Geo L. (2). Talbert is a farmer with real estate valued at $1,000 and a personal estate valued at $500.

The 1930 Federal Census for the City of Portsmouth, VA (ED#28, page 144B, dated April 14, 1930) records the widow Martha S. Winborn (73) living with her married daughter, Pearl M. White (33) and her husband Walter C. White (43 - NC/NC/NC) and their children Marguerite (10) and June W. (8). Walter is an Insurance Agent.

The 1940 Federal Census for Chuckatuck, Nansemond Co., VA (ED#62-5, page 61A, dated April 9, 1940) records the widow Martha S. Winborne (83) living with her widowed daughter, Daisy Ethel Roberts (60) and Daisy's son, Thomas Harden Roberts (23) farming along Highway# 644.

Martha married Thomas Parker Winborne Sr., son of John Bryan Winborne and Sarah Matilda Howell, on 29 Jan 1873 in Isle of Wight Co., VA. (Thomas Parker Winborne Sr. was born on 18 Apr 1848 in Nansemond Co, VA, died on 29 Sep 1921 in Nansemond Co, VA. and was buried in Winborne Family Cemetery, Buckhorn, Suffolk, VA..)

My name is Margaret (Peggy) Vaughan McKinney and I was born (1936) and raised in Portsmouth VA. I have been doing genealogy research for 55 years.
You have a great web site, but I did want to correct and add some information for you.
Thomas Parker Winborne and John Richard Winborne (Brothers) married two sisters in a double Wedding in IW Co VA (not Nansemond Co [as this researccher had recorded]) on the 29 Jan 1973 (IW Co, VA Marriage Reg A 1854-1900 p23) - Thomas Parker Winborne married Martha Sarah Harrison and John Richard Winborne married Annie E (Angenetta Evalina) (Angie) Harrison. Angie was born 30 June 1858 IW Co, VA and died 1925 in Nansemond Co, VA. I do not know where she is buried. She had at least 5 children that married.
