March 5, 1896 deposition in Isle of Wight Court Records regarding porperty of Riddick Daughtrey aka Riddick D Howell:
Elmina Daughtrey, daughter of Riddick, married C. T. Cannon. Edward D. Daughtrey, 1/2 brother to Elmina, declares "I knew Elmina Cannon, she left Isle of Wight County in the latter part of 1865 and the last time she has been heard from by anyone that I know of or by any other relation here was in 1871 learned through her husband C. T. Cannon who lived in Arkcansas (sic) and we have since learned in 1873 that said C. T. Cannon is dead. I do not know, nor does any of said Elmina Cannon's relations know, whether or not said Elmina Cannon left any child or children when she died. I am a half brother of said Elmina Cannon decd [deceased] ... have had inquiries [about] said children but have never heard anything from them or about them or that they ever exhisted."
Note that it is of interest: The 1880 Federal Census for the Town of Lewisburg, Welborn Township, Conway Co., Arkansas, District 38, page 291B, dated June 18, 1880 records an Elmina Cannon (12 - Ark/Unknown/Unknown) living with William H. Gay (34 - LA/AL/LA) and his wife Rosa (24 - Ark/GA/KY) and their children Macy (3 - Ark) and Hannibal (1/12 - Ark). Also in the hhousehold are the widower Hardy Cross (30 - Ark/GA/KY) and his children Sallie (3 - Ark) and Nora (2 - Ark). Hardy and Rosa are siblings.


This researcher has found no census records for C. T. Cannon nor his wife Elmina Cannon (Sept 2014).
