bullet  General Notes:

The web site http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/4462.htm records:
Emauel Becher, Born: 21 May 1776 in Pennsylvania; Died: 4 Jun 1868 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania at age 92; Marriage: Elenor; Buried: New Holland: Seltenreich Reformed Church, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
His wife is Elenor, Born: 5 Sep 1783, Westminister, Cecil County, Maryland; Died: 7 Apr 1861 at age 77; Marriage: Emanuel Becher; Buried: New Holland: Seltenreich Reformed Church, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
Other names for Elenor were Eleanora, Ellen and Ellenor.

The 1820 Census for Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania records Emanuel Becher (indexed as Emanuel Bichard at ancestry.com) as head of a household with the following: 1 male (>45), 2 male (10-16), 1 male (<10), 1 female (>45), 1 female (26-45), 4 females (<10).

The 1830 Census for Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania records Emanuel Becher as head of a household with the following: 1 male (50-60), 1 male (15-20), 1 male (10-15), 1 male (5-10), 1 male (<5), 1 female (70-80), 1 female (40-50), 2 females (15-20).

The 1840 Census for Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania records Manuel Becher as head of a household with the following: 1 male (60-70), 1 male (10-15), 1 female (50-60). Next door is son, Jacob Becher and family.

The 1850 Census for Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, page 204B records Emanuel Becher (74 - PA), carpenter, with his wife Elloner (67 - Maryland) and daughter Emma (34). Emanuel's real estate was valued at $700. Also in this household are John Becher (23 - PA), tailor, probably Emanuel's son, his wife, Ann, (22 - PA) and Eliza (1). Elloner was born in Maryland, the others in Pennsylvania ... the 1900 census will record Daniel Becher's parents being born in PA & Maryland ... see genral notes for Daniel Becher.

Ine the 1860 Census for Leacock Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania:
Several Becher households are found in Leacock Township:
Nicholas Becher, farmer, 56, was living with Jacob Becher, 58; Elizabeth Becher, 47; and Eliza E. Becher, 10. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. Nicholas has real estate valued at $1,500 and possessions worth $500.
Next door is:
Daniel Becher, shoemaker, 37, was living with his wife Susannah, 35; Andrew, 12; Sarah Ann, 10; Daniel, 4 months when the census was recorded on 13 Jun 1860. Also in the home: Ellen Becher, 78 (This appears to be Daniel's mother), John Hoey, shoemaker, 54; and John Weaver, auctioneer, 37. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. Daniel's real estate was worth $1,600 and possessions $250.
Living between Nicholas and Daniel was Reuben Graff, laborer, 24, and wife Lydia A., 24. Lydia may be a Becher by birth?
This Ellen Becher appears to be the same Elloner Becher listed in 1850 as the wife of Emanuel, however, the father of Nicholas Becher appears to be John Becher:
• Census, 1850, Leacock Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania has Nicholas Becher, farmer, 45, was living with Jacob Becher, 47; Elizabeth Becher, 39; and Mary Becher, 35. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. Nicholas' real estate was worth $1,400.

However, if you look at the 1840 Federal Census for Leacock, Lancaster Co., PA you will find a John Becher as head of household that contains: 1 male (50-60) [John], 2 males (30-40) [looks to me like it could be Nicholas and Jacob as described above in the 1850 census record], and 2 females (20-30) [looks to me like it could be Elizabeth and Mary as described above in the 1850 census record]
Not to mention that both census records are in Leacock Township. Of course this implies that Jacob's father is John and not Emanuel ...
The Jacob Becher listed with Nicholas is most likely:
Jacob W. Becher Born: 23 Nov 1802, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
Died: 18 Mar 1872 at age 69
Buried: New Holland: Seltenreich Reformed Church, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
Most likely, the Ellen Becher listed above is an aunt to Nicholas and Jacob Becher and mother of Daniel and the widow of Emanuel Becher [mother of Jacob Becher, father of Emma Becher, wife of Sylvester Rannels].
