The 1910 Federal Census for Leacock Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, District 100, page 10A records Daniel Becher (87 - PA/PA/Maryland) and with his wife Susanna (84 - PA/PA/PA). Daniel is a landlord and has been married to Susanna for 64 years and have had 6 children of whom 4 are still living. Next door is Daniel and Susanna's son and family: Daniel D. (50) and Catherine (40) Becher and children Bertha (21), Grace E. (19), Minnie V. (17), and Ethel (12). Daniel is a painter and has been married to Catherine for 12 years and she has had 2 children of whom 1 is still living. The 1900 census below has inconsistencies in the years married and number of children for Catherine (Kate). The 1910 record is a more accurate description implying Catherine as a second wife for Daniel. The "married" column for Catherine clearly records her marriage as her first. Although hard to read it appears that this is the third marriage for Daniel.
The 1900 Federal Census for Leacock Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, District 77, page 20B records Daniel Becher (Nov 1822 - PA/PA/Maryland) and with his wife Susanna (Sept 1825 - PA/PA/PA). Daniel is a landlord and has been married to Susanna for 53 years and have had 6 children of whom 4 are still living. Next door is Daniel and Susanna's son and family: Daniel (Jan 1860) and Kate (Oct 1867) Becher and children Elsie (March 1887), Bertha (April 1889), Grace E. (Feb 1891), Minnie V. (Nov 1892), and Ethel (Jan 1898). Daniel is a painter and has been married to Kate for 18 years and she has had 1 child ... not exactly in keeping with the 5 listed children.
The 1880 Federal Census for Leacock Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, District 142, page 440 records Nicholas Becher (75 - PA/PA/PA) living with his cousin, Daniel Becher (57 - PA/PA/PA) and family: Susanna (54 - PA/PA/PA), Sarah Ann (29), Ida R. (15), Daniel (20), and Annie (19). Also in the household is Daniel's grand son, Jacob W. Ressler (6). Daniel is listed as a Cigar Maker while Nicholas a Laborer. Interesting to note that Daniel and Annie are listed as son and daughter but the "married" column is checked for both.
The 1850 Federal Census for Upper Leacock, Lancaster Co., PA, page 129A records Daniel (28 - PA) and Susana (23 - PA) Becher with Susanna son Andrew (2). Daniel is a shoemaker.
