Also in the household is George Gross (35 - VA). The Gross boys are laborers with real estate valued at $460.
Nearby is Lyda St. Clair (19) [soon to marry Abraham Gross] and her family: William St. Clair (49), Betsy St. Clair (48), Lucinda (26), Meddie (24), Joshua (16), William (14 ), Betsy (12), Oney (10), Rutha (8), and John (4). William is a farmer with real estate valued at $2,500.

The 1860 Federal Census for the Southern Revenue District, Bedford Co., Virginia, page 526, dated July 20, 1860 records Abram Gross (30 - VA) with his wife L. Gross (27 - VA), sons H. (8) and Jno (6) and daughters M. (4), N. (2), and L. 3/12). Next door is Wm McDaniel (50) with his children E. (22), A. (21), E. J. (19), and B. E. (16). Both Abram and Wm have real estate valued at $1,500 and a personal estate valued at $400. Next door to Wm McDaniel is Josiah McDaniel (25) with his wife E. F. McDaniel (22) and son T. C. (1). Josiah and E. F. will soon be parents to Genevia [Jinnie, Jenny] McDaniel, who will marry Abram Gross' son, Marshall Gross.

The 1880 Federal Census for Chamblissburgh, Bedford Co., VA, District 12, page 9B, dated June 10, 1880 records the widow Liddia Gross (45) with her children Lucinda A. (21), Abram (16), Bettie W. (15), Charles W. (13), Liddia F. (10), Palmer (9), Tiny A. (7), Joseph (5), and Mary F. (8/12 - Sept).
