Lydia "Granny Lid" (St. Clair) Gross
Card playing was enjoyed by many on Saturday nights. There was also square dancing when there were gatherings at various homes. The musically talented strummed away on their homemade instruments or played their harmonicas while the dance lovers never failed to miss a beat. Lydia "Granny Lid" [St. Clair] Gross is remembered fro her dancing abilities and her love of telling a good joke to anyone who was interested. People remember her willingness to serve as the local midwife, having "born" many babies. Mary Gross followed in her Granny Lid's willing and caring ways and delivered many newborns.
