bullet  General Notes:

See general notes on her sister, Mary Alma Hagen, and Mary's daughter Linda, for a 2004 connection.

In a letter from Kathleen Hagen Lichtenwalner to Bo Hagen, Dec. 27, 2004, Kathleen relates many Reading, Pa. Hagen family facts. Most notable is that she did not know her Hagen Aunts nor Uncles, nor her Hagen grand parents. She has four daughters and her brother had only daughters. The Hagen line from Reading ended with her brother's death (as far as she knows). Kathleen states that "the Hagen family was a strange bunch". She relates that while growing up her family never got together with her dad's side of the family ... she has no idea why. When her dad got ill in the 1950s he came to live with her family. She had recently lost her husband and was raising 2 children as a widowed mom. Things were difficult but she remembers that one evening her dad got a phone call and although she heard only one end of the conversation, she remembers him saying that he did not want to claim the body. Apparently his brother had died and there was no one to claim his body and determine a final disposition.

I talked with Kathleen Hagen Lichtenwalner Oct 22, 2004 at 610-582-8103. She is married to Devere O.[Owen] Lichtenwalner and lives at:
19 Lincoln Dr.
Reading, Pa. 196063624

She says she rarely has contact with the Hagens. To paraphrase her husband: "Those Hagens are strange birds." She has sent her sister's (Mary Hagen Fries ... see general notes of Mary Hagen) daughter several letters but never receives a response. Kathleen doesn't even know exactly where Mary lives or if she is alive. Kathleen says her brother's (Richard A. Hagen) daughter, Maureen, doesn't communicate either. She was born/lived in Louisiana and has never seemed to fit in to the Reading seen. Perhaps she "holds it against these Yankee people".

Kathleen is listed as surviving in the obituary for her sister, Mary Alma Hagen Fries, who died Sept. 29, 2005 in Richmond, VA.
