The 1890 Reading City Directory lists the George L. Hagen family at 1024 Elm Street. The 1900 Directory list both George L. Hagen, machinist, h 1024 Elm and his daughter Mamie Hagen, topper, h 1024 Elm. The 1901 Directory list George L. Hagen, machinist, h 1024 Elm and his daughter Mamie Hagen, topper, h 1024 Elm and sister Minnie Hagen, trimmer, h 1024 Elm.

The 1900 Federal Census, Pennsylvania, Berks Co., Reading, ED# 76 page 228B records George L. (June 1860) and Amelia (Sept 1860) with children Mamie (March 1882), Katie (Nov 1884), Albert R. (Dec 1887), George L. (Sept 1890), and LeRoy (Aug 1894) living at 1124 Elm Street.

In the 1910 Federal Census, Reading, Berks Co., Pa., District 74, page 99B, George L. Hagen (49) is living at 1124 Elm Street with his wife Amelia (49), and children Mary A. ( 25), Albert R. (23), George L. (21), and Leroy W. (16). He is listed as a machinist at a locomotive shop while Mary is a Knitter in a Hosiery Mill, Albert is a Machinist in a Textile Mill, and George is a Bar Clerk in a Hotel, and LeRoy is a Cutter in a Hosiery Mill. Amelia's parents are listed as born in Germany.

In the 1920 Federal Census, Reading, Berks Co., Pa., George L. Hagen (60 - PA/PA/PA) is living with son-in-law William J. Buckley (48) and family at 942 Elm Street in Reading, PA. William's wife, Mary A. (37), and daughter, Irwin M. (5) (the name is difficult to read and could be Irma), are also in the home. George is listed as a widower and employed as a machinist is a locomotive shop.

HAGEN - In this city, on the 17th last., GEORGE L. HAGEN, aged 61 years, 8 months and 19 days.
Relatives and friends, also P. & R. Relief Veterans Association and Rainbow Fire Co. are invited to attend the funeral from his late residence, 942 Elm street, on Tuesday morning at the house. High mass of requiem at St. Peter's Catholic Church at 10 o'clock. Interment in Catholic Cemetery.
