  General Notes:

Rebecca Stone left North Carolina with her family to move to Henry Co., Missouri where she met and married Joseph Garrett. She was a teacher and among the three Rs, she taught her children to believe they were better than their father and the Stones were too good for the Garretts. She finally convinces her husband to sell the farm and move to the Town of Calhoun, [Henry Co.] Missouri just north of Lewis, [Henry Co.] Missouri.

The 1850 Federal Census for Deepwater Township, Henry Co., Missouri, page 33A, dated Oct 19, 1850 records Rebecca Stone living with her parents Salathial (64 - NC) and Jane (55 - NC) Stone and siblings Jesse F. (29 - NC), Margaret (23 - NC), Eliza (22 - NC), DeWitt (21 - NC), Ann (18 - NC), Minerva (14 - NC), Flavia (11 - NC), Rebecca J. (10 - Missouri), Margaret D. (8 - Missouri), and William L. (6 - Missouri). Sqalathial is a farmer with real estate valued at $240. Jesse is a physician while DeWitt is a farmer and Eliza is described as idiotic. See general notes on her father for 1860 census facts where her sister Margaret is listed as Mary and her sister Ann was married to a Cummings.

Rebecca married Joseph Smith Garrett, son of James Garrett and Elizabeth Sims, on 6 Jan 1855 in Henry Co., Missouri. (Joseph Smith Garrett was born on 25 Nov 1824 in Farm Near Madison, N.C. and died on 8 Nov 1895 in Henry Co., Missouri..)
