(14), and Sarah G. (12) living at 107 Peach Street. William and Fannie have been married 17 years with 5 children all of whom are still living. William works in a Butcher Shop.

The 1920 (ED 61, page 164B) and 1930 (ED 11, page 51B) Federal Census Reading, Pa. records William (50) and Fannie A. Schaeffer (50) living at 121 South 10th Street. William's employment is listed as a Deputy Sheriff and then Private Constable while William's son-in-law, Harry Yocum, is an electrical engineer at the Hosiery Mill. In 1920, also listed in the household is son William H. Schaeffer (23). Also listed is Harry E. Yocum (24) and wife Martha M (25-daughter of William and Fannie). In 1930, Harry and Martha Yocum have children Arlene F. (8) and Harry E. Jr. (6) Yocum. They are listed in the household of William (60) and Fannie (61) Scheaffer (sic).

From the Wednesday May 27, 1942 Reading Eagle, page 26:
SCHAEFFER - On the 24th inst., WILLIAM husband of Fannie (nee Hazen (sic)] Schaeffer, aged 72 years.
Services from the Cramp Funeral Home, 839 Washington St. Thursday at 2 p. m. Interment at Aulenbach's Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday evening, 7 to 9 p. m.
From the Monday May 25, 1942 Reading Eagle, page 16:
William Schaeffer, 72, Succumbs at His Home
William Schaeffer, of 121 South Tenth St., for nearly 24 years a Reading constable, died yesterday at his home at the age of 72.
For 17 years he served with alderman Frank J. Printz, of the Third Ward, and filled several terms before that. His last term expired in 1939.
A son of the late Henry and Charlotte Shaeffer, he was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, Veteran's Fireman Association, Freindship Fire Company, George Meade Camp, 16, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and Friendship Commandery, Knights of Malta.
Surviving besides his widow, Fannie (Hagen) Schaeffer, are two sons, William H. of Shillington, and Martin L. Mohn, of Reading; two daughters, Martha, wife of Harry Yocum, of Reading, and Annie, wife of Ralph Smelser, of Milwaukee, Wis.; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Camp Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, with the Rev. Arthur Naugle officiating. Burial will be at Aulenbach's Cemetery.
