According to family stories, William Breedlove left Rebecca and later married Mary Jane Owens. They had 2 children, Minnie and Willie Breedlove. This is documented by the 1900 Federal Census for Willis, Dickenson Co., VA, District 17 that records William (March 1865 - VA) and Mary J. (May 1879 - VA) Breedlove (indexed as Breedder at ancestry.com) with children Minnie (July 1892 - VA) and William M. (Nov 1895) Breedlove. William and Mary have been married for 7 years and have had 2 children. This record along with the WWI Draft Registration records for William M. Breedlove confirms the family: The WWI Draft Registration Card taken in Pike Co., Kentucky on June 5, 1918 for William Breedlove records his date of birth as Nov 5, 1897 in Haysi, VA [Dickenson Co.]. William's father is reported as born in Russell Co., VA. William works for Edgewater Coal Company of Hellier, KY where he lives with Maxie Breedlove. William is medium height and build with brown eyes and brown hair. Maxie is William's wife as confirmed by the 1920 census below.

Apparently, soon after William Breedlove's death, his wife, Mary Jane, remarried to a Franklin Bartley: The 1910 Federal Census for Willis, Dickenson Co., VA, District 17 that records Willie Breedlove (13 - VA) as the step son to Franklin Bartley (25) who is married to Mary J. Bartley (33 - VA) and has a son Holiday Bartley (3). Franklin and Mary J. have been married for 4 years (2nd for Mary and 1st for Franklin). Next door is Drewry (21 - KY) and Minnie (16 - VA) Wallis married for 2 years ... this is probably Minnie Breedlove.

The 1920 Federal Census records Mary J. and Franklin Bartley and family as well as Drewery and Minnie Wallis living in Willis, Dickenson Co., VA while Willie [William M. Breedlove] has moved to Hellier, Pike Co., KY: District 114 records Willie (23 - VA) and Maxie (22 - KY) Breedlove with Thelma J. Breedlove (1 11/12 - KY) boarding in the home of Albert and Victoria Bartley ... see general notes on William M. Breedlove, son of William Breedlove with Mary Jane Owen.

William married Rebecca Goff, daughter of John Goff and Nancy Ramey, on 29 Jun 1882 in Pike Co., Kentucky. (Rebecca Goff was born in Jul 1863 and died after 1900 in Burning Fork, Pike Co., Kentucky.)

William next married Mary Jane Owen circa 1892 in Dickenson Co., VA. (Mary Jane Owen was born in May 1879 in Virginia and died after 1930 in Willis, Dickenson Co., VA.)
