The 1900 Federal Census for Chatham, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia, District 73 records Zach Atkins (Aug 1863) boarding in the home of James and Henrietta Bennet, Hotel Keepers.

The 1910 U.S. Census for Chatham, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia, District 95 records Zachary Adkins (42) living in the home of his brother Joseph H. Adkins (49). Joseph is a Jeweler. Also in the household are other family members: Nancy B. Adkins (76 - mother) and Victoria Adkins (53). Interesting to note that the 1900 census records Nancy and her husband, Henry, living separtate. Nancy indicates she has had 9 children of which 6 are still living.
