The 1830 Federal Census for Pittsylvania Co., VA image 21 of 196 records 1 male (5 -10), 2 males (10 -15), 1 male (20 - 30), 1 male (40 - 50), 1 female (5 -10), 2 females (15 - 20), 1 female (40 - 50) with no slaves.

The 1850 U.S. Census, Virginia, Pittsylvania Co., Northern District page 237A records Henry (68) and Elizabeth (57) Adkins. Living nearby are the families of Frances Adkins (50), Elizabeth Adkins (35), William Adkins Sr. (55), Owen Adkins Sr, (55), Mastin Adkins (30), and Henry Jr. (25).

O., page 190, dated July 10, 1860 records Henry Adkins Sr. (77), farmer, with real estate valued at $700 and personal property at $3,300 including 2 slaves. Living in the same household is his son Joseph Adkins (52). Nearby are Henry's son, Henry Jr. and his family, Henry Sr.'s brother, Owen, as well as Henry Sr.'s son-in-law and nephew, Jackson Adkins. His will, on page 512 of Book 2 (dated 21 January 1867) left his entire estate to his wife Elizabeth; and, at her death, to the children--who were left unnamed. In Pittsylvania Co. VA. Henry's estate was divided on 4 Aug 1875 (Account Current Book 36 page 497).

Henry married Elisabeth Rossett on 7 Oct 1799 in Pittsylvania Co, VA. (Elisabeth Rossett was born about 1782 and died on 28 Apr 1860 in Museville, Pittsylavania Co., VA..)
