Mrs. Ellen A. Douglas - Mrs. Douglas died at her home in Leeton, Mo., Saturday, March 21, 1936, at 2:30 p.m. of paralysis. Saturday morning, March 14th she arose as usual, but soon realized something was wrong. After calling her neighbor, unlocking her door and reaching a chair, she became helpless, and just gradually grew worse until the end. Ellen Augusta Garrett was a daughter of pioneer parents, Mr. James W. Garrett and Ann Perry Garrett, and was born Sept. 6, 1867. She and Henry J. Douglass were married Sept. 28, 1882, and two sons were born to them: Frank E. and Arthur G. Her husband died Feb. 20, 1905, and soon thereafter Mrs. Douglass sold her farm, which was the old Garrett home, and moved to Windsor. In June, 1920, she united with the Sardis Primitive Baptist church at Leeton, and two years later purchased the home where she died, moving there in order to be near the church which she loved and served will all her heart and hands until her death. Of her family there are left to mourn her passing one brother, W. A. Garrett, and two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Russell, of near Windsor, and Mrs. Anna L. Botts, of Sedalia. Also her sons, Frank E., wife and family of Columbia, and Arthur G., wife and family of Kansas City. She left seven grandchildren and one great grand child. Funeral services were held at the Huston-Turner Chapel Sunday afternoon, March 22nd. Interment was made in Laurel Oak Cemetery.
