Abraham D. Williams

  General Notes:

Abraham Williams enlisted as a Private in Company B, 4th Infantry Regiment Minnesota on September 30, 1861 at the age of 18. Abraham was wounded at the Battle of Vicksburg and mustered out of Company B, 4th Infantry Regiment Minnesota October 11, 1864. Abraham Williams farmed and worked in the timber business in Minnesota. He and his family moved to Spokane, Washington around 1886. He owned and operated a Hotel in Spokane but it burned down. He retired to San Diego, California and died there May 10, 1937 (Death Cert # 1074).

The 1850 United States Federal Census for Clear Creek, Clark Co., Illinois, page 169 records Pete (40 - Unknown) and Ester (40 - Unknown) Williams with children Marion (19 - Kentucky), Sylvania (16 - Kentucky), Mary (12 - Kentucky), James (10 - Kentucky), Atlantic (10 - Indianna), Abraham (8 - Indianna), Sebus (4 - Illinois), and John (1 - Illinois).

The 1860 United States Federal Census for Hale, McLeod Co., Minnesota, page 10 records Abraham (17 - Illinois) living with is mother, Ester (50 - Ohio, can not read or write) and siblings Lucidea (13), John (11), and Jane (8), all born in Illinois.

The 1870 United States Federal Census for Hale, McLeod Co., Minnesota, page 5 records Abraham (26 - Illinois) and Harriet (19 - Missouri) Williams with no children. Next door is Ester Williams (60 - Ohio) with children John (21) and Louisa J. (18), both born in Illinois. Ester is Abraham's mother. Next door to Ester is another son, Eusebius Williams (23 - Illinois), his wife Anna (28 - Illinois) and children Ada (2 - Minn) and Ulrich (4/12 - Minn).

Abraham married Harriet Francis Whitelock, daughter of Unknown and Unknown, on 4 Nov 1869 in Hutchinson, McLeod Co., Minnesota. (Harriet Francis Whitelock was born in Jan 1851 in Missouri and died after 1900 in Nosler, Spokane Co., Washington.)
