(12), William H. H. (10), John S. (8), Mark (6), and Joseph D. P. (2). John is a farmer and has real estate valued at $800.

The 1860 U.S. Census for the South Western District, Franklin Co.,Virginia, Long Branch P. O., page 18/19 taken June 25, 1860 records John G. Meador (56) with his wife, Sarepta (45), and children Saml. H. (18), John S. (16), Demarcus C. (14), Joseph D. (12), Mary C. (7), Melchesdec (3), and Julina I. (3/12). John has real estate valued at $4,000 and a personal estate at $7,400 including 9 slaves.

It is of interest that several of the family move to Missouri: The 1900 United States Federal Census for Summerville Village, Carroll Township, Texas Co., Missouri, District 136, page 150B records Demarcus C. Meador (Nov 1847) with his wife Sallie (Feb 1839 - VA), son, James T. (March 1872 - WV) and daughter Nora F. (Sept 1880 - Missouri) as well as Melchesdack Meador (Dec 1856) with his wife Nannie A. (July 1858 - VA) and children Tidiwell (Feb 1883 - VA), Emile (Oct 1884 - VA), Dora (Nov 1886 - VA), John H. (Oct 1888 - WV), Fred W. (May 1890 - Missouri), Nora S. A. (May 1893 - Missouri), and Robert L. (July 1894 - Missouri).

John married Sarepta Simmons on 7 Oct 1833 in Franklin Co, VA. (Sarepta Simmons was born on 15 May 1816 in Virginia, died on 1 Feb 1892 in Blackwater, Franklin Co., VA and was buried in Fralin Cemetery, 4 miles south of Calloway, Franklin Co., Virginia.)
