The 1870 U.S. Census for Blackwater, Franklin Co.,Virginia records John S. Meader (sic) (25) with his bride, Sarah Meader (19) living with his parents, John G. (66 - VA) and Serapter (56) Meader and siblings Mary C. (16), Melehisedak (12), and Julina (10).

The 1880 U.S. Census for Blackwater, Franklin Co.,Virginia, District 100, page 17A, dated June 21, 1880 records John S. Medor (sic) (37) with his wife, Sarah E. (29), and children Virginia C. (9), John S. (7), Cora L. (5), Ada R. (3), Willie J. (4/12 - February / listed as a son).

The 1880 U.S. Census for Blackwater, Franklin Co.,Virginia, District 100, page 12B, dated June 17, 1880 records John Meddor (sic) (76) with his wife, Serepsey (66), with their daughter, Julia (18) living as "in-laws" in the home of John D. Fralin (25) and family: wife Mary C. Fralin (26), daughter Eliza L. (3), son John C. Fralin (5/12 - January), and step daughter J. Shively (7). [Note: Mary C. Fralin is the daughter of John and Serepsey Meador and John D. Fralin is the brother of Sarah E. Fralin, wife of John Sparrel Meador who is a son of John and Serepsey Meador ... one might have to chart that out!]

The 1910 U.S. Census for Blackwater, Franklin Co.,Virginia, District 30, page 3A, dated April 18, 1910 records John S. (67 - VA/VA/VA) and Sallie E. (60 - VA/VA/VA) Meadows. Also in the household are the son-in-law John L. Stanley (32 - VA/VA/VA) and his wife Willie J. [Meador] (30) and thier children Odie M. (7), Hattie M. (5), and Bennie W. (3). John and Sallie have been married for 40 years and have had 6 children all of whom are still living while John and Willie have been married for 8 years and have had 3 children all of whom are still living. Near by are John and Sallie's daughters, Ada and Virginia, and their familes.

John married Sarah E. Fralin on 20 Jan 1870 in Franklin Co, VA. (Sarah E. Fralin was born in Feb 1850 and died on 22 May 1930 in Blackwater, Franklin Co., VA.)
