William King was shown to be a resident of Rocquist Pocosin in Bertie County in 1748 when he gave his brother, Charles King, land. William married his cousin Elizabeth King, daughter of Henry King. He built a house on Rocquist Pocosin which, about 12 years ago, was moved to the Hope Plantation west of Windsor, Bertie County and restored. The home is maintained by the State and is preserved as a historic monument. William lived as neighbor to his brother Charles on Rocquist the remainder of his life. At other times his other three brothers also lived on Rocquist as neighbors. William wrote his will and died in 1778 in Bertie County. His widow, Elizabeth, later married Morgan Dwyer, a school teacher.
